We are accustomed to understanding the Mass-production concept as a system of operation in which "tools" in the system rule ... the worker need not have much skill, except trained repetitive work culture. Although the traditional mass production technologies are considered to be cost effective and "optimal" in terms of "profits" to the manufacturer, it is increasingly becoming clear that the classical and modern concepts of mass-production need capital intensive systems/tools/arrangements. Further, the system draws heavily on the meager resources of the earth (both materials and energy), resulting in increased carbon.
Is it possible for us to redesign a new mass-production technology that falls within the ambit of Clean Technology and Sustainable Engineering?
