How to Connect DGPT2

05/31/2012 4:40 AM

I have a Type F4 Feeder typical, within the typical is a trip coil rated at 24V DC. The terminal block for the typical drawer has connections for remote Fault, remote Status and trip coil (MX). Presently i want to connect a DGPT2 to the trip coil terminal point but DGPT2 requires 48V DC and the trip coil is rated at 24V DC.

My point is how the DGPT2 is going to get 48V DC such that when there is an internal fault in the liquid insulated transformer, the DGPT contacts change state and the trip coil is actuated into operation to trip the breaker. Please anyone with better understanding should please help me out.

The drawer is in 400V distribution board (Schneider Electric).

What did Schneider Electric say in response to the telephone call?

We have not gotten any response from Schneider. We're trying to work things out on our own for now.

Strange way to work it out yourself. Asking a bunch of strangers.

Does the DGPT2 transformer protection relay not have dry contact alarm outputs for you to use to switch a separate 24VDC supply to control the trip coil?

Why can't you do this?

Thank you very much to everyone. You want me to use one of the alarm contacts, Probably like the first tempearature alarm output contacts to switch a 24V supply.

Please can u elaborate more on how u think the connection should be. If possible with a diagram or a link where i can read more on this issue.

Come on now this is really basic stuff, just read the manuals for the transformer alarm and breaker - the alarm contact is being used to switch a CONTROL voltage which is used to control your trip coil, this is standard industrial control practice and what the equipment is designed for.

If we need to show you how then you likely aren't qualified to be doing the work.

Also please don't post your email on a public forum (due to potential spam issues).

I understood from what you said that the switchboard was produced by Schneider.

So any data allowing to trace to the orginal plant and schematics would make life much easier ...
