Why operating vent required to open before taking feed water heater in line in power plant.

to remove the accumulated air from the feed water heater line.

Shirikant45 is correct....

Feedwater heaters, like many other shell & tube heat exchangers with steam on the shell side, all require venting upon startup.

Venting, of course, wastes a bit of steam, but once air and non-condensibles have been removed the heat exchanger can operate more effectively.

Dear Mr. subranshshekar,

The air is highly compressible, and the trapped air will undergo compression, and cause problem. To release the air, venting is to be done.
