Well you can start by changing the fuel and air filters, and then cleaning the injector nozzles....If it's cold, they sometimes take some time to start....How does it run once it's started? Is it smooth, full power, exhaust smoke?

Sir ,

We have just serviced our DG with changing all related filters but problem is still continue. It runs smooth if it runs. It is not to old DG set i mean it has covered only it's 1500 running hours & it is summer season with too sunny day.

Well a few things come to mind, it's possible you're losing the prime in the fuel line, do you have a prime pump or bulb? Next I would try an additive to clean the injectors...check the fuel for contamination(water)...are you blowing any smoke on start-up? if so what color? might try some starting fluid spray....injection pump may be failing, check operating pressure...

Diesel additives...

starting fluid spray....

  • Is the tank filled with sufficient fuel of the right type?
  • Is there water in the fuel?

Does the fuel rack or solenoid pull in every time? Is it binding?

Does it start easily when the engine and/or environment are warm but with difficulty when cold?

If so check your glow plugs, one or two have probably died. the glow plugs in my engine measure about 0.2 ohms when they are good - yes they draw a lot of current to get up to red heat prior to cranking the engine, but are then switched off.

Dear Mr. Gaurav.Glory,

1. What about the Battery Charge/Strength.? Pl. check this .

2. Do you get black Smoke initially say for 3 to 5 Seconds. ? If so Problem will be in the Atomisation of injected fuel.

Pl.check up this also.

Check the quality of fuel in addition to the points suggested here. How old the battery ?

When it shows cranking does it actually cranks?.if NO check your cranking related stuffs.if it does check your compression , ur fuel quality, ur fuel pump /nozzle pressure.if any of this is not right then it wont even start smoothly sometimes.

Gaurav;

Check your master fuel shutoff solenoid valve and make sure it is not sticking/remaining in the "closed" position due to being internally dirty or due to an electrical issue with the solenoid such as a loose or corroded wire/connection or bad starting relay contact.

Verify fuel at the correct pressure is reaching the cylinders by installing a pressure gauge between the shutoff valve and the fuel rail or pump (depending on design) or at one of the injectors.

This will also indicate if you are getting the correct amount of pressure needed to actuate the injectors and atomize the fuel.

Clean and/or replace components as necessary.

Another point to consider is "wet stacking" which occurs if you are not running the DG often enough and/or for a period of time long enough to burn all of the carbon out that builds in the cylinders and on the valves.

This carbon if not kept burned out of the cylinders and valves will retain diesel therby causing your fuel-to-air ratio to go rich resulting in hard to start issues and it will lead to dangerous accumulation of unburned fuel in the exhaust system. (Look for wet diesel present around the exhaust assembly header bolts, exhaust pipe/tube joints, and or muffler.)
