Well I would want to know much more about the layout and application to even guess about the hazards. I'll bet you that some people would consider the motor for this crane to be a low voltage motor and it ran into a significant problem.

Where on this planet are you located?

What do your local codes require on this type of installation?

Here in the US, they both can be placed in the same area with limitations that can be found in the NEC

You can put it there or there. But don't ever put it over there. As you can see, putting it over there would be foolish and dangerous. If you care more about your fertility than your customers, then you'd probably want to put it over there. But I wouldn't tell your spouse.

I have seen them placed in the same rooms and near to each other in various facilities that I have visited. As stated by another comment, check your local codes. Also, if your design provides safe working clearances around the equipment and takes into account such things as arc flash, minimum approach distances, etc., you should be fine. But that needs to be determined based on your location, application, codes, and AHJ.

When in doubt, hire a qualified consultant with experience in the field.

How do you do, Civil-Mind?

Yes, you have some thinks to have :=

1_MV swgr may be increased in the future of, generally, two cells (it was what I used to draw in my schemes and it seems that everybody in the world would agree that)

2_You have to go behind the MV swgr (to do, generally, an end of cable, which are, generally, of a three-phased unit)

3_You have to move the MV swgr (in order to align it, or extract a failed cell - for instance - Busbar Coupler)

4_The same applies to the MCC, LV switchgear...

5_!!! Don't forget to check the height of your substation: MV swgr is high (up to 3 meters, sometimes) !!!

6_Don't forget to check the width ( and the height) of the entrance (way in and out) doors (for most of MV founders, 180 centimeters are necessary)

7_Pay attention to transformer(s) swgr: sometimes you need some rails (and the necessary tracks) to pull into swgr the transformer (s) to its location.

8_Pay attention to cables holes or trenches: some times they are pre-existent and they disturb your MW swgr arrangement.

9_Specially in MW swgr, pay attention to everything: Once in place, you cannot change some thing.

Have a good day, BRZK

How close do you want?

LV and MV side by side in one package.
