Re: English Libel Law is Becoming a Global Disgrace

You reckon you've got problems. About two decades ago some amoeba brained judge in a deformation of character suit ruled against the defendant saying that just because what they said was absolutely 100% correct and totally truthful in every way didn't give them the right to publish that information and defame the character of the person it was about.
That set the standard and from thence forth on all somebody that got upset about the truth coming out only needed to quote that case and the person publishing the information was up sh*t creek without a paddle.
Parliament said they would fix the problem with legislation, but that was two decades ago, governments have come and gone and still you can't publish anything that might be defamatory even if it is the absolute truth.

If we
don't act we're at risk of becoming a global pariah. There are US States
who view English libel law as so damaging to free speech they have
passed laws to effectively block the decisions of English judges.
