Cadio-Aid DMS600 Manual

06/17/2012 3:51 PM

Hi, i am repairing a S&W desfibrillator, its an Cadio-Aid 600 from the DMS series, and i really cant find what is wrong, because the people im repairing it for didnt gave me much information, not about the flaw, neither about what it doesnt do, so im looking the technical or the user manual for electronic schematics but i havent found any so far, so if some one has the manual or any electronic schematic for this defibrillator i would be very thanksfull

I searched, couldn't find anything useful...Your best shot is to contact a repair service that works on defibrillators, and ask them for info....

It's probably spelled Cardio-Aid. Maybe searching on that may give more results.

I expect that this device must be maintained and repaired by facilities that the maker approves or owns. They will also keep the manual a secret.

Cardiac Aid 600

In much the same way that the local butcher can give you a deal on heart surgery, a TV repair shop may think they can fix it

If you can't work out what is broken then find out what is working....

If your client didn't tell you what the problem was then how do they know it needs repairing? Talk to them.....

If it is the kind of device I am thinking of, it administers a few hundred volts DC voltages to a failing heart. Your fumbling can get deadly in a hurry. Medical devices have extra insulation requirements. Many modules are epoxy coated or encapsulated. They are not built for repair.

Other than that, good luck.

Should not S&W be repairing it? As it is a Medical unit. If the repair is not a 100%, you could be held accountable. (and are you licensed to repair medical equipment?)

Prepare to be disappointed. The DMS 600 dates from the early 1980's, so is well past its sell-by date. You will probably only get this historical information from Simonsen and Weel directly.
On a separate note, what responsibility are you prepared to take? This is a medical device and you will be fully responsible for any malfunction following the repair. How are you proposing to test your repair? My advice is to leave well alone.

Defibrillator circuits are designed to develop and deliver electrical energies with a predetermined waveform, pulse width, amplitude and duration. It is a life saving device that if you are not familiar with Cardio-Aid's electrical specifications, you should not even attempt to troubleshoot nor touch it!

As a minimum requirements you'll need to have the following;

1.The knowledge, familiarity with electronics and control circuitry,

2. A non-inductive 50 Ohm test load,

3. A digital storage oscilloscope with 100 Mhz bandwidth

4. Familiarity on the device's technical specifications and its proper operations.

Bear in mind, defibrillators normal power outputs ranges in thousands of volts! Safety First!

Hi, thanks for your comments, in order to answer some questions:

im a fifth year biomedical engeeniering (BI) student, so yes i know a thing or two about desfibrillators, the cardio-aid is going to a university for student of BI to practice with, so its not going to be as delicate as it would normally be, i only needed the manual for the schematic, so i could have a more width view of what the equipment should work like, once fixed, i've already find one issue in the power card that im fixing, dont know if that is all, i guess i should know soon enough, thank for your answers if i could be of any help for you let me know.
