Hi,

ASME Section IX is for welding procedure specification and qualification as well for welder performance qualification, so if you are inspector and testing a welder for acceptance criteria for visual inspection you need to refer to Section IX

BUT, if you are inspecting for actual welding inspection you need to refer to ASME Section VIII Div 1, UW 33 AND UW 35 AND if you need to make inspection after Dye penetrant test you need to refer to appendix 8
