Power Protection Engineering Courses

07/02/2012 2:16 AM

I live and work in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Does anyone know of any Universities/Colleges in Australia or New Zealand that offer specialised courses in Power Protection? I am looking at up to 12 - 24 month courses because this crucial part of power systems engineering is not covered in the 4 years undergraduate electrical engineering program at the university in this country. I would like to take specialist courses in this field. That should cover the various schemes employed in the protection of generators, transformers, bus bars, transmission lines, distribution lines and also the equipment used in each type of protection. Thank you.

Back when I worked in the electricity supply industry, University of Queensland ran postgrad courses on protection in power systems that were widely accepted as industry standard. I imagine they still run them.
