Koken Barber Chair Hydraulics

07/10/2012 1:21 PM

Trying to fix the hydraulics on my very old Koken barber's chair. There is not a hex head for plug on bottom. Does bottom cap have threads to unscrew , is it pressed on, or does it even need to come off?

Do you just add fluid from the top. Also, how do you determine how old the chair is, absolutely no dates stamped anyway on this chair.

Thanks,

John

Was the drawing offered by SolarEagle in your previous thread incorrect for your chair? We never heard back, we thought you were good.

Yes,

Because there is no hex head for plug in bottom. Not sure if bottom cap is threaded or pressed on. Is bottom cap even designed to come off? If not , do I just add fluid from top?

Koken Barber Chair - Time For 20 Questions

07/10/2012 3:10 PM

John, this is a lot like asking for a price quote on a sack of groceries.

You have to tell us something. Some pics might go a long way in identifying this. If we don't know what you have, it is difficult to offer any meaningful info.

How come you need to add fluid? Has some leaked out? From where? Have you repaired that? Do you believe an hydraulic leak will repair itself? Do you believe a press-fit plug would hold against the pressure?

I don't know whether a pressed fit plug would hold against the pressure. Is this a quiz. I obviously don't know much about the hydrolics on the chair. I can certainly give you a description or better yet a picture of the chair. I was just wondering if there is usually a date stamped somewhere on the chair.

When I took possesion of the chair the hydroclic mechanism didn't work then.

Thanks,

John

I am hoping the next CR4 Admin How-To blog will be

How To Size A Posted Image So It Doesn't Wreck The Page

While you can still edit, would you reduce that image by about 50% or so?

It looks just like that chair, except there is a white porceline frame around the back rest.
