240VAC 3P WYE

07/18/2012 4:18 PM

Is it acceptaple to run a generator at 240VAC 3P WYE? Which would give 138.5 volts on single phase.

Thanks

Andre

Yes it is.

However problems could arise when you connect loads.

Be safe and have fun!

Where did you find such a generator? Very odd.

I take it that you are talking about the unloaded phase to neutral voltage of all three phases? The typical tolerance band for AC power is ± 10% or 132 volts on the upper end.

If you have no real load on it, and a cheap voltmeter, you may be just fine. There may be some other things you can do.
