Outlook Express 6 File Name

08/03/2012 8:27 AM

Good Morning All,

I am in the process of researching file names for Outlook Express 6 on Google and I have a request for information into Microsoft but no reply yet.

Does anyone know the name of the folder that contains the side bar user files as shown below?

I am attempting to transfer these files to a new machine. I have the original OL 6 disks and the program loaded and runs fine on the new machine but there is no utility to transfer files.

On newer versions of Outlook I know that these are stored in a .pst folder but can not locate a .pst folder on this older version.

You may be confusing Outlook and Outlook Express. Outlook uses .pst file. Outlook Express uses .dbx file. This article should help:

Good Morning bigg,

Thanks for the info. That is probably why I was not getting much info from my Google searches looking for a .pst folder in OL 6.

The link is very useful. Thanks again for your help!

Regards - KJK

just right click on the inbox folder & click on properties it gives you the location

if you go into tools click options go to the maintenance tab & you can change the location for your store folder for these folders I actually store these on another drive / partition to make it easy to reinstall my op system they aren't deleted when I do a format & reinstall & I don't have to save them I just re enter the address for the folder after reinstall I also do the same for "my documents" it's a lot easier than trying to save them when something goes bad & op system crashes
