Iveco Engine Gen Set With Bosch ECU

08/08/2012 6:10 PM

hi all,

i am electrician working on generator sets, recently i got some problem with iveco diesel engine cursor 440, with bosch ecu no#0281001527. the customer wants to start this engine generator set, the ecu is connected to box marked AFAM piacenza T.-80.151.00.01, iveco motors 503112044, centralina interfaccia, cursor.

there is electronic board in this box with relays and fuses and jumbers marked for speed options if you want it 1500rpm or 1800rpm and to use CAN or not.

there is cable from this box to female receptacle, fitted on the engine skid.

what i understood is that there is missing control box witch conected to this box and from there the engine can be started and stopped.

now i checked on the net and bosch wesite but could not get any help.

i want to get some info about the ecu or that AFAM box which could not get any info on the net.

the genertorset maker is allesandri which also i could not get any help from their website. it seems to be italian company.

sorry for this confusing but realy i need some help to start this engine generator set

thanks

hi mr lyn,

thanks for your reply.

i already checked the link but i could not get what i need, now the engine ecu connected to the control box with pc board and fuses and relays, this is to set the engine speed and controlling the engine start and stop, now if i will install engine controller with can bus system, i need to know where to connect the wires of the start and stop and the data transfer wires. and this will not happen if i still dont know the pinout diagram of the ecu.

why it is hard to find these informations? i mean why the manufacturers hiding these infos from customers who already bought equipments from them. why there is no after sale service?

thanks anyway for your help

It sounds like you're missing the DSE controller....

hi mr solar,

sorry for my late reply,

to be honest, i like to work with DSE controllers, its a good brand, but for this job i am planning to use manual and remote start unit model#DKG-119J from datakom

this is the website:- http://www.datakom.com.tr.

i just found it in the shop, and it support CAN bus system with different engine types.

i would like to use controller with can bus so it shows the engine shutdown fault code on the controller display when the ecu shuts the engine down for some problem on the engine.

the problem now is, how am i going to connect the controller to the ecu while i dont know the ecu pinout diagram. i could not get any informations on the net regarding bosch ecu.

realy appreciate your help

thanks

sorry for my late reply, i was away from the location of the genset.

pls see attached pictures for the complete unit and the receptacle which i think there was control box or module connected to it so the genset can be started and stoped.

Maybe I missed this, but can you start and stop the genset as is?

What's your location?

hi mr wal,

thanks for your reply.

i can not start the engine now, because i dont have the diagram of the genset or at least the ecu.

thats why i am looking for the ecu pinout diagram.

my location is in libya where there is no branch for bosch company!

if you want more pictures for the unit, maybe you give me your email address and i will send them to you.

thanks

I'd encourage you to share any photos with this forum. That way you will have more brains helping you to sort this out.

You have a cranking battery connected right?

Have you measured what is coming out of the pins on this connector yet when the ECU is energised?

I also noticed that two of the pins are a little discoloured. Have you tried shorting these together, or grounded any other pins to see what happens yet?

I am guessing you'd be happy just to have this machine crank and start.

Let's do this in small steps, worry about remote monitoring of the ECU later.
