Attemperation Or Desuperheating Control Valve

In thermal power plant we are control valves for attemperation and desuperheating. Whether the term attemperation is same as desuperheating or both of them different.?

In case of main steam attemperation both term are used alternatively.For other places attemperation is the general term.
