European Flanged Hydraulic Reservoir Cleanout Cover Standards

08/21/2012 5:02 PM

Good afternoon!

I'm working on a job that's being sent overseas, and have been having tons of fun (sarcasm) getting everything done to metric standards I am unfamiliar with.

One aspect I've been having trouble with is a metric flange mount hydraulic reservoir cleanout cover.

I have a roughly 18" cleanout cover to have built, but I keep falling short on information regarding the proper hole spacing to put in it. I'm just sure there has to be some standard (ISO/DIN or other?) that I should use as a legal guideline.

Anyone have any clue on this?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Maryland Metrics: DIN Flange Data Charts

This site lists lots of DIN numbers for flanges.

Don't know if it will help, I don't do flanges.

It's simply a Hydraulic Fluid Reservoir, so it's only under the pressure of the weight of the fluid. Maybe a couple of atmospheres at best. I'm not sure what Single double is.

It's a cleanout cover, basically we have an 18" hole, with a flange ring welded to the reservoir. Were using a rubber gasket, and a round steel plate to cover the hole. I just don't know of any European standards to design the bolt pattern with. I have already designed a pattern based on common sense, but if there is a standard I would like to comply with it.

It is destined to be commissioned in Russia.

Hi

Try Ian Morris the Technical Director at the British Fluid Power Association. ian@bfpa.co.uk You can say I suggested you make contact with him. At 70 years of age I am not up to date with standards any more.

Hi Again

I seem to recall that you work for a Rexroth distributor in the states. If that is the case then you should look at the European reservoir designs that Bosch Rexroth use in Europe (They will be on the web) and they will be to the DIN standard.(Even if you do not work for a BR Dist. the tanks will be on the web.)

Regards

Yeah, I have looked at multiple manufacturers, and while many of them have similar designs, I have not come across a single "standard" design.

I have already had them fabricated at this point, but would still like to find an actual standard, and if none exists, it should be added to the NFPA, and the BFPA guidelines.

I spoke with the Chief executive at the BFPA, and he was unaware of any standard, but was surprised that there was none, and thought perhaps it needs to be written still.

Thank you for all the help and guidance!
