New Bright & Brilliant BILLBOARDS Day or Night

05/17/2007 10:12 PM

New Bright & Brilliant BILLBOARDS Day or Night are showing up around town. There are two full sized ones purported to cost $500,000 each vs. $50,000 for a paste up, or prepared panel, standard type of the same size.

Can anyone elucidate on the technology used in these new billboards and how it is arranged?

Actually I work for a major company that produces those billboards and the end zone 'TVs' and other signs. We use LEDs to light them. We have also created 'highdef' signs. What benefets the sign company is they can sell multiple ad spaces instead of just one per board. They can also be tailored to what ever time frame the customer wishes for maximum exposure.

I'm in maintenance but sound like a salesman. The company I work for is Daktronics Inc. located in Brookings SD

Then the boards only need new programming to display a new advertisement or partial portion of the whole board?

Either by local change of a ROM or via remote from a centralized office location?

Much better visibility and quick change of advertisers. From painted to paste ups to pre-prepared panel to the latest and greatest! or "Time Marches On."

Very little of the incadescent type are produced any more. We've gone to LED and Hidef LED. Even the leader boards and Bud trailer at NASCAR.

We don't do hardly anything incadescent any more. Just LED and 'HiDef' LED. Anything from high schools to stadiums to race tracks. DOTs on the bridges and airports. Amber alerts pretty much anything. One of the neatest is the Coke sign in Times Square.

Well let's see now- we have GPS's,radios, cell phones,CD players and of course DVD players in the cars so now we need better distractions outside our cars because we don't already have enough accidents.

Is this a new means of population control?

After dealing with screaming kids in the car for years (got kids?), a GPS, cell phone, or CD player is nothing!

Ok, whats needed next is a set of special polarized glasses and for $50 US a month you could watch "the Game" on these billboards as you pass by. Of course we will need more of them...much more. This would be the ultimate distraction and taken to its natural conclusion, it would entertain us while we wait in the impossible traffic jam caused by a driver unable to multitask.

Not in Tennessee. NO ANIMATED/VIDEO MESSAGES! New law requires this type of billboard be spaced 2,0000 ft. apart, and no message is to last less than 8 seconds to limit the messages per board at normal interstate speeds. More stringent restrictions on state roads to take into account lower speed limits.

Knoxville has two such boards shut down till problem can be evaluated for in-town conditions.

There are a number of newspaper articles that you can access via Google or Dogpile that describe a wonderful Coca Cola bottle display in Times Square. Even articles that the paper expects payment for but no links or no video of the sign.

Has anyone seen videos and what is the URL???

In this condition, why not use LED billboard directly.

We produce LED billboard almost around the cost of USD50,000.

LED billboard is with long life, and for features
