I have reached the stage when the marble curb topper is to be put on the top of the cement shower curb (fat mud) and a good grade of thinset-acrylic emulsion used to cement it in place. The curb is ~ 47 1/2" from left to right and 4 1/2" wide. It has high points at the LHS and RHS extremities of the curb so that when the marble topper is placed on top of the curb there is a gap between the topper and curb of ~1/4" in the middle. So my question is what is the best way to fill in the gap and stick the topper to the curb at the same time. Shoud it be done in 2 stages:
(1) Fill in the gap in the curb with the thinset
(2) when almost dry use the thinset to stikck the marble topper in place.
