I purchased a FUJIFILM HS25 EXR camera to try out, and maybe keep. (I had been looking at dSLRs for their lens interchangeability and 35mm/2x3....4x6-prints-without-crop-loss capability. But with 30/60 zoom, optically derived 2x3/4x6 imaging/printing (without image "squeeze"), CMOS, day and night ZLR viewfinder aiming-plus overhead and shoot-from-chest (DLR emulation!) pointing, the Fujifilm HS25, as a dSLR emulator seems to provide sufficiently similar capabilities and cost benefits at a substantially better price. Now for the question...
I have tried, unsuccessfully so far, to find out the actual meaning of those 3 "letters" in its brand, EXR, as pertains to the FUJIFILM's "EXR" shooting modes and/or to its sensor.
Being a Tokyo based product, the usual, ad-speak meaning of X does not seem likely. But what else besides "you know" is there for just x, especially just capital X, to stand for?
Then, thinking more Orient-elligently, X as an upper case word (not letter) surfaced as a possibility: as in X as the word "times" or "cross product." But the only thing I could derived from that sort of EXR (and yes...complete with double entendre) is "Exposure Times [or Cross] Resolution--but that seems, well, a little obvious?
So what I am hoping, is that genuine camera aficionados on this site can reveal actual, official (or at least unimpeachable) identity of those letter words: E, X, and R.
Thank you.
