IP Cameras Programming

10/23/2012 6:48 PM

Hey, I just wanna know, can we write our own program for IP Cameras according to our requirements ? like can we use different image processing algorithms of our own choice? If yes then which cameras can we use?

Please help me out as I'm working on my Final year project in which we have to monitor IP cameras with smart phones (Iphone).

Regards

Kashif Chishti

Yes, this should be possible, just choose a camera with a resolution that is good for your requirements.

Depending on the programming language, it will be more easier or difficult to program.

In your second paragraph you say 'monitor IP cameras'. This gives me the impression of embedding the video image into some app, which should be straight forward. But in your first paragraph, you say 'image processing algorithms', which to me implies actually bit-banging the image file. In either case, I guess it depends on your being able to handle whatever file format the camera sends, doesn't it?

This is very much useful of you individually process the images and then force them out together in the APP or any embedded feature you are planning to use it on

Yes it is possible. My company and other machine vision specialists do it as a matter of course. You just scan the image pixel by pixel and devise your own method of using the data you obtain. If you get good at it come and see me. There are a multitude of suitable cameras available. The latest breakthrough is the use of USB3 to connect to your PC. Google industrial cameras and you will find what you want. The manufacturers will help with software developer's kits.

Re your second paragraph, I can't help.
