MCC And Panel Manufacture Production Issues

02/04/2013 11:19 AM

I be Quiet long long time now you hear problem question of mine.

Good day to all. Our firm has been designing electric control panels for various industries in Namibia for a decade and with growth in our country, we have experienced production bottlenecks in our workshop. Money spent on marketing, training, equipment and staff has paid of to the extent that our facility or system needs some changes. I feel that I am not asking the right questions or seeing the flaw in the current run of things on the production floor. All I know is that we are missing some deadlines and this is a poor reflection of our commitment to any client. There is too much info required from me to paint the current picture, but I would appreciate if any of you who have 'walked this walk' and feel you can help, please message my CR4 mailbox and I will respond with more detail. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanking all in advance.

Without being there, no one's going to have a clue what your production problems.

You seem to be doing well, so, hiring a consultant to survey your plant and make adjustments is the most intelligent thing you could do. It will be money well spent.

Better yet, check out this link for a book titled "The Goal"

It is written much like a novel, but it describes a systematic approach to solving the kinds of problems you are having. You will enjoy and learn at the same time. I have had quite a bit of success with applying the simple ideas to problems that seemed to be impossible to solve.

Best of luck!

If its a control panel mfg. firm, the follwing can save the manpower
1. standardise all drawings including mechanical & electrical
2. Change the standard only if the customer stirctly ask for it
3. Use wiring and terminal schedules instead of schematic diagram for shop wirings.
4. Use electrical softwares like, promise, see electrical expert, or autocad which can produce automatically terminal schedules and wiring schedules.
5. By using schedules technician no need to think about logic of wiring, just connect the wire as per schedule, so no need experts.
6. Use wire looms for standard small control panels,
7. Consider your employees as a human being and give the benefits to them as you get.

good luck
