Antiskid Boat Deck and Side Tops

05/25/2013 8:56 PM

Regards to all. I made a 23 foot fiberglass boat, and now in the final stages. Was wondering what is the easiest way to make parts of the deck and top of the sides antiskid. My research came up with so many different ways of doing it, such as antiskid paints, specific matts/cloths/fabricks, certain rollers with different patterns, to simply sprinkel special materials and even fine sand on wet gelcoat and then vacum cleaning it! what are the advantages and disadvantages and costing of each, particularly from personal experience. And lastly what do proffessional boat builders do?

I have the KIWI on my sailboat deck for 5 years now. Easy to apply and to maintain.

I replaced the cork deck with it that only lasted 10 years.

I've been itching to ask almost the same question but for refinishing the "floor" of a bathtub. Maybe we can do a little of the "two birds with one post" thing.
