Rats equipped with radios that transmit their brainwaves could soon be helping to locate earthquake survivors buried in the wreckage of collapsed buildings. In a project funded by DARPA, researchers from the University of Florida in Gainesville have implanted electrodes in specific areas of rats' brains and trained the rodents to search for human odor. Rats, which can crawl just about anywhere, have an extremely sensitive sense of smell. Now, for those radios . . .

This sounds like a good plan, but what if the injured people are screaming would this scare of the rats? One of the items I saw mentioned the rats would get out of they did not feel safe. Another questions comes to mind about the trapped person being scared - is it true that Humans put off a different scent when scared (i.e. a dog knows when you are scared)
