 Researchers at MIT have developed a simple, portable imaging system that can achieve resolutions found in much larger, more expensive lab equipment. By combining a unique physical interface and computer-vision algorithms, the equipment could prove especially useful for analyzing products too large to fit under a microscope. What makes the interface so unique is a slab of transparent, synthetic rubber called GelSight. This video reveals the remarkable properties of GelSight, and the system's ingenuity.
