Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

Bloodhound SSC Runs into Money Troubles (Again), Asks for More Investment to Keep 1,000 MPH Effort Going

While funding issues caused the Bloodhound SSC team to delay its quest for the world land-speed record last year, the £25 million shortfall that the team announced this week may torpedo the streamliner’s chances of setting any records at all, leaving just one contender actively pursuing the record at the moment.

According to the team, Bloodhound Programme Limited entered into administration on Monday, with the administrators – Andrew Sheridan and Geoff Rowley, both of specialist business advisory firm FRP Advisory LLP – declaring that the company behind the British land-speed record effort will need additional investment to keep the project going.

It will take a hefty infusion of cash to keep this land speed record attempt on schedule.

How fast can you afford to go?

That has always been the question for motorsports enthusiasts of all types.
