Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

Caption This: Hunting for Treasure with a Big Ford

Anyone who sees this ad: This is not going to end well.

Man: Honey, does our new Ford come with a first aid kit?

Man: For the last time. Like I told you, we bought the Galaxie 500/XL so we could drive to the old barn, so we can find the cash, so we can pay off the car before the first payment comes due. I know, it IS the perfect plan.

Man: You wait in the car, honey, I got this.

Man: It’s okay, I haven't dropped anyone yet.

Man: Playtime is over. It’s getting dark. See, I left the lights on in the car. Did you think I was going to let you run around the rafters of a rotted barn all night? Now THAT would be dangerous.

Woman: When you said let’s go on an adventure, I didn’t realize it was going to end up with us at the hospital.

Man: Well, Mom says we have to leave now. I know, right? What’s HER deal?

Woman: Be careful dear, that looks very... never mind.

Man: See honey? I told you we’d find something cool at the old barn.

Man: It'll be fine. Yes, I can support your full body weight with one fully extended arm.

Man: I told you a full-size Ford was the best choice for treasure hunting off road. Look at that ground clearance. Man: All of this reclaimable barn wood, yet so little time.

Man: Yes, I always go hunting for hidden cash in a dilapidated barn while I'm wearing a dress shirt, vest, and dress slacks. What’s your point?

How would you caption the photo in this ad?

Our dealer hasn't got any new stock in for a while, and frankly, I think he needs to modernize his showroom...

Forget it dad, we're better off living in the car.
