While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.
The world does indeed have plenty of concours d'elegance events, many of them with just as much - if not more - focus on the lifestyle aspect of the automotive hobby than on the cars themselves. Indeed, with a backdrop of mansions and coastal drives, the inaugural Audrain Concours d'Elegance could have easily become another supercars-and-society event, but with Donald Osborne as one of the event's principals and with Jay Leno attached to the show, it debuted in 2019 as a premier event.
To capture that inaugural Audrain Newport Concours Motor Week, the concours organizers put together a high-quality documentary chronicling everything from the setting to the 30 Under 30 Class to the judging and the awards ceremony. Most importantly, they answered the question that Osborne asked early on in the documentary about the need for another concours by illustrating just what cars like these and a show like this means to everybody involved.
This year's Audrain Concours will take place September 30 through October 3.
