From SCI FI Tech:
The CREATEC Japan conference is a place where the technology and chips "inside" gadgets are the primary focus, but one piece of hardware really stood out: The Trigon pyramid touchscreen interface. (Link to PDF spec sheet in Japanese.) Set up at the event as a kind of kiosk displaying a constantly updated quiz, the Trigon evokes images of a Stargate Goa'uld spacecraft control panel, but the computer functions aren't fictional, they are very real.
According to the manufacturer, Tyco Electronics, because of the panel's ultrasonic surface, very little computer processing power is needed to facilitate the panel's operation. The technology was on display as an example for computer corporations interested in possibly moving beyond the traditional touchscreen models found at ATMs and various game centers.
