Metallurgy & Heat Treatment of P9 [Un-modified 9 Cr-1 Mo Steel

03/08/2016 6:08 AM

I deal with heat treatment of un-modified 9Cr-1Mo [P9] material. I find it very difficult to find any literature, published paper, text books etc. which could provide information on the following:

1. The appropriate rate of heating, soaking temperature & rate of cooling for Annealing, Normalizing & Tempering heat treatments of P9 material.

2. The effect of increasing or decreasing Temperature, Soaking time & Cooling rates on mechanical properties [Tensile Strength, 0.2% Proof Stress & %age Elongation] during Normalizing, Tempering & Annealing of P9 Steels.

Please help !!!

You might have to shell out for a technical book or two to find answers.

I found this.

You do the reading!

Check out these organizations:

SME: Home - Mining Metallurgy and Exploration

Chemical & Metallurgical Engineering

Local universities may also be a source of information.
