Fish Scaling Angle

what should be the angle to remove the scales from the fish ?

or In what angle the knife should be placed to remove the scales?

and their formula ?

To scale fish the knife is held at about 90 degrees so it's edge grabs the scales and pulls them out by the roots. You are not cutting them. Use just enough pressure to grab the scales. Excess pressure can cut into the flesh. To add bite, you can back the knife off vertical to the scales to ~~95-100 degrees from 90, as you advance, but take care to not open the angle too much or it will slice into the flesh. Often square edged knifes, like scissor edges, work well, as they grab the scales and do not cut in.

When I used to scale fish (I skin them now), I held the knife at 90 degrees to the scales.

Not sure what formula you are referring too.

I don't know if your mean by hand, or by a machine.

Friend of mine used to make these, he made a couple dozen at a time.... wow,...@ $229.00 ea, I didn't realize they were so profitable.

The fish should be under water when doing that to avoid your face getting the descales.

do not use a knife, flat objects at 90 degrees bounce off the scales when remove.

Use some what like this set up below to minimise descales throwing at you

Your thread is quite interesting to me because I adore fishing. By the way, guys, what is the best saltwater spinning reel?
