Japanese Asteroid Probe Returning to Earth

11/28/2005 9:00 AM

After weeks of speculation as to whether the Hayabusa spaceprobe actually landed on an asteroid, and indeed, whether it was destroyed in the process; JAXA, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency has announced that the probe is returning to Earth. No one is sure whether Hayabusa was able to collect samples from the surface of the asteroid. This question will remain unanswered until Early in 2007 when the probe completes is 2-billion-kilometre journey.
