Environmental Remediation Calculations

09/21/2007 8:26 PM

Howdy Fellow CR4 Intellectuals:

Question #1: Does anyone know of a freeware program or spreadsheet that I can obtain to perform calculations for air sparge, blower sizing, compressor sizing, soil vapor extraction, vacuum unit sizing, and other common calculations required for pilot tests and remedial action plans ??

Question #2: Does anyone know of a freeware program or spreadsheet that I can obtain to perform calculations for the proper formulation of Fenton's Reagent (% Hydrogen peroxide, % ferrous sulphate, % sulphuric acid) ? Specifically, I would NEED to calculate reaction time (variable durations of reaction), peak exothermic temperature, etc.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I always set up these calculations myself in Excel, much like every environmental engineer, since there are always site specific considerations, the geologic conditions are not ever very well defined (even with multiple CPTs and borings), soild behavior is not really predictable by engineering standards, and the component sizes can be oversized for very little extra cost .
