Detection of "Temper Embrittlement' in 2 1/4 Cr - 1 Mo Steels

08/21/2018 3:21 AM

Dear Sirs,

I have two questions:

1. Can we detect "Temper Embrittlement" in 2.25 Cr-1 Mo Steels using Metallographic techniques on Optical Microscope ? If yes, what should be the "Etchant" ?

2. Is there any code or specification for "Step Cool Test" of 2.25 Cr-1 Mo Steels ?

Please help. Thanks

..." To measure temper embrittlement of the steels and their weld metal, temper embrittlement factor and formula (J factor - Watanabe and X formula- Bruscato) are used. Step cooling heat treatment is also applied to determine temper embrittlement"...
