NASA is hoping to launch the New Horizons Pluto probe this afternoon after scrubbing the launch yesterday due to poor weather conditions. New Horizons, powered by a plutonium power source, is expected to reach Pluto in nine years, as long as it is able to launch before February 14th.
One interesting factoid I heard yesterday on an NPR Audio report about New Horizons - this ship is fast. While it took 3 days for the Apollo spacecraft to reach the Moon, New Horizons will pass it in just 8 hours.
