Petroleum fluids Properties package

10/27/2007 12:48 PM

Please could anyone give me info on where I can download a FREE software/database containing properties of pure and mixed petroleum/organic fluids with a graphical interface for viewing charts including phase envelopes and the capability of predicting the properties of mixtures and capable of being used for the analysis of a natural gas transport system. I've seen one on the "Office of Scientific & Technical Information" website belonging to the DoE which is too expensive.

Thanx.

This is an excellent opportunity to refine your search skills. With a connection to the internet, a decent computer, and Google you can eventually find almost anything.

I recently uncovered detailed repair information for an inoperative MFP which I had been given because the owner couldn't find anyone to fix it for less than the machine was worth. After six hours of searching I found details of a repair that required five minutes with a screwdriver. Actually, two screwdrivers.

Vary your search terms, and keep a record of the ones you use. Although it is the usual practice just to go through just the first screen or two, you sometimes strike gold on the tenth or fifteenth. When you get tired of searching the topic, hang it up for the day and go back later. Somebody may have just posted exactly the thing you are looking for. Good luck!

Yep. I recently found a repair manual for a Mariner 6hp outboard engine. Anything is possible with a bit of a Google.

Your bold, all caps word there is what is probably holding up your ability to find a decent package. Compare what you could save with this software vs. the cost and get somebody at your company to dust off the old petty cash drawer. You could probably justify a license to HySys or Aspen with the money you could save by not spending three days calculating the density of your gas stream.
