The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), launched on August 12, 2005, has successfully inserted itself into martian orbit. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory received signals of success at 2:16 PM on March 10; these coming after a tenuous half-hour without communication as the MRO was behind the Red Planet. Expect to see some spectacular pictures of the martian surface as the MRO is fitted with cameras that have the same resolution as surveillance satellites.
