What is this plant

I am the worlds worst gardener, but I've had a problem with miner bees in the lawn for the last couple of years, and, the internet says that lavender keeps them away. So I bought some lavender seeds and planted them about two weeks ago. Most of the lavender seedlings are about an inch high and have two small leaves at the top, but what is this plant which is about 3 inches long:-

Initially I thought grass but it's got a circular cross section.

I have an app on my phone called "PlantNet" that will usually identify an unknown plant from a photo of leaves, fruit, flowers, etc. It's free and available on Android and Apple.

Might it smell like onion grass? It volunteers nicely in North Carolina, grows in clumps, and smells if you cut it. Feral chives, as mentioned by JNB, or garlic.

I have a similar app called flora incognita, which failed miserably.

These apps seem to fail because they require a picture of a leaf, a flower or the bark; not the whole plant.

But plantnet did a lot better than mine: I called the whole thing a leaf, and, plantnet came up with a few sugestions: Common rush, Kentucky blue grass, meadow foxtail, Common spike rush and many more. At the moment it looks like common rush, but many of the plants look very different when they mature.

I will add more pictures if there are any changes.

I doubt it is wild garlic because that has a grayish green stem. I don't know about onion. If you let it grow and it flowers in late spring with small white flowers it probably is Bethlehem Star, which is a very hard-to-kill bulb with alkaloids you don't want to have. If so, dig it up and make sure all the bulbs are gone. --JMM

The original shoot has become a side shoot/branch on what appears to be a stronger new main stem.
