Check "spot metals prices". It helps if you can spec the material - SS prices vary surprisingly, #1 v #2 copper can be very different, aluminum cans sell at a different price from aluminum engine blocks. You'll never find it as a stock quote because it's a commodity. Check "spot" prices - that's today's price. If you're looking at scrap metal as an investment, or as an economic indicator, then the futures market is worth looking into, but is traditionally considered one of the most risky areas of the financial markets. Fortunes have been won and lost there, but mostly lost.

May be this law is right for some of the metals but I doubt it can fit in for precious metals like gold and even for expensive metals like nickel.

ok sorry just got in what i have is 1/2 inch thick and twenty foot long plate steel that has been painted

i live in the us and will be selling it in knoxville tn wondering if it is projected to go up or down in august also i have 1\2 inch thick pipe that is 8 ft going around it and is 30 inches straight through it and would make great driveway pipe if anyone here needs any just let me know can be cut 40 ft or less and i have a straight 30 steel ladder that is in great shape and 3 big lights that is in a alum. box and is made to ome on when it gets dark

Does not matter what type of metal it is, be it Au, Al, Pt, Pb, Cu or Fe. Tests can be done on site to determine what additives are present in the steel.
