It's great to see this again! Anupam Mishra struck me as a charismatic speaker, and these desert technologies were fascinating and scenic. TED Talks is a great source of interesting material, too.

Thanks Garthh for leading us to this video. Very informative by Mr. Anupam Mishra.
Rain water harvesting is an important program of the Govt of India. Because of the concentration of population in Major cities, there is a shortage of clean water. Transportation through pipes from far off rivers is not really helping out the situation as it leads to unbalance in other ways.
The video proves that our forefathers were brilliant Engineers and could think of rain water harvesting which has again become a necessity.
The situation might be true in some other parts of the world too.

Thanks Garthh for the site. Here is another site you may want as a repository of water collecting methods in dry areas. I like the fog collectors and the underground dams of Brazil.
Anupam Mishra reminds us how storage works to promote conservation and optimize the use of water. That well that produces 1 liter per minute (1440 liters per day) or less can add up to sustainability for many people including many rural North American families. Also he reminds us just how important is maintaining water systems. Old ideas, if they are good never die.
