Vertical Search Propagation

03/30/2005 10:00 AM

There was an interesting piece on vertical search in John Battelle's Searchblog.

"You got Indeed and Simply Hired for jobs. Topix for local news and information. Globalspec for engineering. Technorati and Feedster for feeds/blogs. And now...Oodle, for classifieds."

There are no shortage of new "boutique" search engines. The new golf search engine is a good example. Between these announcements and LookSmart adding 5 more vertical search engines I wonder how granularly you can break out each audience before the target audance becomes to small? Maybe it's more a factor of spending power than one of size? What do people think?
