Next-Generation Airborne Drones

Aerospace engineers at the University of Florida have built prototypes of next-generation airborne drones that the U.S. Air Force hopes to use in urban environments. The goal is to develop devices that can dive between buildings, zoom under overpasses, and land on apartment balconies. Current drones such as the Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle soar high above the ground and are not designed for urban intelligence-gathering missions.
