Can a Stockist Supply 3.2 Certification?

Hello Everyone,

I am a stockist of inconel bars. my client needs a round bar of a certain diameter which i am not having stock of so i will be forging it from a diameter of bigger size from a local workshop. my client is demanding a 3.2 certification? can someone advice how can i submit 3.2 in this case. i am having 3.1 certificate of the bar from which i will be forging the required round bar. Please Help !!

Have the reprocessed bar tested and certified by a reputable testing facility, or get a waiver.

dont you think that the TPI will require to identify the raw material before reprocessing?

I reside in the USA and have only worked on materials certifications in this country.

I have no further opinions on how it should be done in India.

do u in usa require to offer raw material identification for a reprocessed bar

It depends on many factors. Not the least of which is the specification to which the material must qualify.

The material that went into space craft was much more critical than the material that went into a streetlight. I worked on space craft.

1. You can't certify what you did not manufacture. However, you can provide the original material certificate and then certify that you have re-processed a bar from the original. This may/ may not satisfy your customer...or

2. Get third-party inspection to witness the new forging and issue a certificate to that effect together with the original material certificate (costs to the customer) , or

3. Obtain the customers' agreement to machine his bar from the thicker one. The original material certificate remains valid in this case. The waste material and machining cost is for the customer's account.

4. Should none of the above be suitable options, and this is a repeat customer, buy the correct size in...
