Ha, and the fine print is in English.

Do you have a source link for this (scam?).

That appears to be a ZWR 100 Trillion note (Third Z$). At the time of devaluation, it appears to have been worth somewhere around $1.00 USD.

Yikes!

Ouch, and I thought post war German currency devaluation was bad.

That's it, someone mentioned Hitler (well implied through association) - thread over.

"Mum, can I borrow one hundred trillion, five hundred fifty billion for a litre of Coke? They're on sale!" Man, that's a lot of zeros! Zimbabwe might consider using scientific notation for their currency. The savings in ink alone would underwrite their country's entire money supply.

So, what is the picture supposed to represent?

Stuck between a rock and a hard place?

Apparently, you can get $5 USD for one of those as they are "collectible" - source

I wouldn't mind getting one myself and framing it.
"I'm a trillionaire!"

In all seriousity, the hyperinflation in Zimbabwe is a good lesson on what not to do for economics. (click the graph for the wiki)

"... a good lesson on what not to do for economics."

I agree, it's frightening.

Inflation had been about 100% PER DAY for a while. Yikes!

Currently the U.S. Megamillions lottery jackpot (cash option) is worth 1.9x1021 Z-Bucks.

All joking aside, the citizens of the USA own all the gold in Fort Knox. With the price of gold so high, if we were to sell all of it we could pay off the national debt and have enough left over to send every man/woman/child a nice check. Our money is no longer backed by this gold, but I fear the politicians want to keep it there until they figure a way to steal it.

Unfortunately, we would still be about $6 trillion in debt- if sold today.

Edit: I'm wrong. It looks like between the federal reserve and the mint held gold, we have about $21 trillion worth.

My sister bought a bunch of Iraqi Dinars. I'm still waiting for the ship to come in. She promised to share some when she becomes a millionaire.

But when you're holding the gold, you can say it is worth whatever you want it to be worth, no?

Market value would plummet before the deal closed I'm sure, like my house in 2009...devalued by 1/2 because of all the foreclosures that came on the market overnight.

Once they get natural gas legislation next year and make it mandatory that all over-the-road truckers have to convert to it, they'll let inflation creep up to make all the rest of us pay more taxes and pay it off that way.

Well, I suppose you can say anything you want, but you can only ever sell it for what someone else is willing to pay. In the case of gold, I think it would be whatever the current price is.....which is artificial anyway.

And if we were to let say, ten percent go at a time, so not to destroy the current price, we could be "in the black" before long. But would that not cause the political establishment to run up another massive debt?

I dont see how it is doing us any good to keep it all. And what exactly do we need it for? Industry? They can buy it from us as well as anybody with gold for sale. Saving for the future? So the government can use it wisely? (ha ha) Going back on the gold standard? Not with the gridlock in Washington DC
