NASA offering $250,000 for lunar excavator

NASA is offering $250,000 to the team that can design and employ the most effective soil excavation and delivery system. Before you rent a backhoe and start digging up your backyard, the prize is for lunar soil.

This is the latest in a string of competitions sponsored by NASA including:

The Lunar Oxygen Challenge
The Centennial Challenges
