I am not convinced that swine flu is anything even like a pandemic. It's really not a heck of a lot different that the garden variety flu that sweeps the entire world every year, and there are fewer than 90,000 cases and 400 deaths world-wide. Contrast this with one billion cases and half a million deaths from ordinary flu every year.

According to the best numbers I can find online, roughly 56.5 million people die every year from all causes. So 400 from swine flu and 500k from flu in general aint such a big number. Compare that to the Black Death that wiped out almost half or Europe in the middle ages.

The one invariable is that life is ultimately fatal. Nobody gets out alive.

The "wealth of public information" has certainly not influenced me positively nor will it convince me to partake of the vaccine.

In fact, since everything we hear out of "officials" nowadays is massive doom and gloom, I am constantly reminded of the boy who cried wolf.

I feel bad for those who die from the flu and their families but the one constant is that Mom Nature will prevail in the end, no matter our efforts.

I am also a great believer in that which we focus our thoughts the most will affect us the most. If we believe negatively we will receive negative results. I will not be a party to that party, if you will.

All viruses mutate this is what they are watching. The Spanish Flu of the early 1900 was not that virulent the first year but the second year was when it did the most damage.

This new virus is one that the public has little or no immunity to. Even an vaccination this year may increase a person immunity if it become more virulent in the following seasons.

I don't know about the wealth of public information influencing me. But the thought of small jab in the arm over a week with fever, aches and being sick stomach does.

Vaccinations?

I don't think so.

Historical trends indicate vaccines have had little positive effect: Historical trends show that deaths caused by childhood illnessess had already declined as much as 98% before vaccine programs were ever initiated. Evidence indicates that an improved standard of living, better nutrition, and increased sanitation, caused this drop in disease, not vaccines. Evidence also indicates that statistical tampering over the last sixty years has made vaccines appear more effective than they truly are.
In fact there have been some massive disasters around the world following vaccine programs.

my oldest daughter and my wifes best friend has h1n1. daughter [24 yr old] went with boyfriend to texas first and then on to Mexico for remainder of holidays.[from western canada] . arriving back to Canada, she got very sick and is at the end of her 10 days quarantine. her partner, he did not get sick.[living/travelled together] put on "Tamiflu" immediately.12 days after diagnosis, quite weak and sick. moving about however.

our 50 year old woman friend, nurse, is also diagnosed with H1N1. quarantined and stated she was the most sick she has ever been. Tamiflu prescribed immediately. on the mend.

Nurses have to be vaccinated. I will not get the vaccination if it has the same components as what the military used for anthrax in the 90's. there was an excellent documentary on TV regarding the us air force and the anthrax vaccination program. it may cause post traumatic stress. lots of info to find. I hope no one gets swine flu.I hope i don't regret not taking the vaccine which is available in my city as of today.
