Can You Advance Your Career Through Education?

Posted December 20, 2009 8:03 AM

Want to get ahead in your supply chain career? Continuing education is a key element in that pursuit, but what is the best approach to attaining that education? There are lots of choices — what courses should you take? Is an MBA really worthwhile these days? Should you go for online education or in person? Online is easier to fit into busy schedules and may cost less. But, do you lose something if you rely on the web rather than the classroom? Can the web really substitute for in-person instruction? What about the contacts and the camaraderie of the live experience?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Supply Chain Integration & Technology, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Supply Chain Integration & Technology today.

Where are you starting from? What sort of company* are you working in? What are the principle needs? Is negotiation or organisation or motivation your critical strength or weakness?

Either way, try to play to your strengths and delegate your weaknesses while you sort these out by following a short specialist course. This course could be by correspondence - but there is no substitute for face-to-face discussion with a mentor if you hit a problem. But this learning isn't necessarily aimed at a piece of paper - returns on-the-job will be immediate and visible.

If you are secure where you are, and already capable of the next step, a well-reputed MBA should extend your range and is also useful in getting interviews.

*By way of example, some companies will benefit from specialist statistical and programming input, for others standard tools will do the job.

Online education system is the emerging boon to aspirants interested in continuing education programmes.

On the path of career journey ,one got to keep polishing oneself in the relevant field or Fields of interest based on his / her choice.

Towards updating and specialization continuing education programmes should be installed in all possible avenues like-part time studies, open university systems, week end classes etc. It should also offer vast specializations and emerging fields for the participants.

Here in INDIA Education including continuing education programmes are in good boom and it is really worth pursuing.Particularly academicians. The costs are affordable and offers good scope for learning without leaving one's dependant jobs.

The information age is another major support feature of present learning systems.

Thanks and regards for all involved in this honourable service to mankind.

Specializations should have priorities apart from rational courses like MBA.

Excellent Opportunity to Study

Creativity is a blessing from nature but we can develop it by careful planning through education. This is all the more important in a country like USA where we accept even the mediocre to contribute their best and create something new.

Hence, it is necessary that parents and teachers provide healthy conditions at home and the school. This would enable children to express themselves and contribute something new for the society, which may be termed as creativity……….
