Turn Your PC Into a Digital Laboratory

Posted December 22, 2009 12:02 AM by FirstZoom

This USB microscope can magnify items from 10x magnification to 200x magnification. The picture is displayed on your PC monitor. Videos as well as pictures can be recorded for future observation. The device has a ruler function where precise dimensions can be defined using your mouse. Once defined, you can select any two points to get an accurate measurement across those two points.

This is really friggin' old news! I've had a Motic microscope for about 6 years. Not only is it a traditional microscope with an eyepiece, but it also contains a CCD that's connected to my PC through a USB cable.

Again, stills, movies, and measuring at powers from 10X to 400X--It also comes with an XY micrometer driven slide holder for moving about the object being viewed in a controlled manner.

I bought an identical Veho device from Maplin a few months ago when they were knocking them out for £30. It's quite handy for seeing detail that my tired old eyes can't quite manage anymore. It's also useful being manoeuvrable so you can see details on something that won't fit in a microscope.

It's no substitute for a good microscope but a handy little tool.

I also got the veho x400 USB microscope. Prefect for finding the cracks on an 0402 resistor termination.
