Posted August 15, 2016 7:44 AM by Bayes

Scientists are working on insect type drones that can perch using electrostatic adhesion. Here is a video of the drone perching:

Here is a link to a paper describing the electrostatic adhesion.

Here is how it's fabricated:

You rub them on your head like a balloon before you launch them...

That's disappointing. I'm not sure why it's not working on your browser. Is anyone else seeing what JohnDG is seeing? It works on mine but I'd hate for the majority of you to be seeing just broken links. I'm using the newest version of Chrome.

Ah, yes. It's fine on Chrome. I usually use Firefox (latest version) on my Widows laptops/netbooks/desktop machines (unless I'm at home using a Chromecast) and Chrome on my Android 'phone.

FYI, it doesn't seem to work on Explorer either - where the video should be there's a box stating "Navigation to the webpage was cancelled". But it is Version 8, which I assume is well out of date now.

Wait - I refreshed the page (in Explorer) and it now shows the video .

That's weird. It's a cool video and I hate the idea that maybe more than half of the people going to my blog are seeing a broken link. Even if it works eventually, it's frustrating it doesn't work the first time.

As a friend of mine is fond of saying: "It's software, not science".

Gee, that's scary !

Combine that bugger with a nano lithium battery and a bit of c-4 and you got the perfect terrorist weapon.
