Safe Drinking Water Online

Posted October 05, 2007 8:37 AM

The United States National Academy of Sciences is looking to get water treatment information out to the masses. The Academy has launched drinking-water.org, a collaborative effort to introduce proven filtration techniques to rural areas that might not have access to this knowledge. The site is provided in five different languages, and the goal is to provide a solution for basic human needs in regards to water.

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Lab Equipment, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Lab Equipment today.

Brilliant!

A sensible initiative for a change!

(Better than giving laptops to people who don't have electricity!)

Dear editor,

I'm inside the Engineers' place for the first time. I hope i will blog in the future.

High quality scientific information on water treatment technologies for the poor is crucial for promoting the service in the cummunity. This information will allow Engineers and service promoters to chose the proper technology for the poor.

Most importantly, the global on-line information exchange on safe drinking water simplify the challenges of the service provision and highly contribute in the efforts to

achieve the Millennium Development goals on safe water and sanitation for the masses in the remote world.
