Soaring Sensors

The worldwide market for wireless sensors is expected to grow by an order of magnitude from about $500 million today to about $4.6 billion in 2011. About one-third of companies are using wireless sensors and controls today and almost 50% are planning to investigate the technology over the next year and a half. One major application: monitoring the status of machines on the factory floor.

Umm; 4.6 BILLION, and those of us who have to wait on wire to be run, are not suprised in the slightest.
