The rapid advance of many modern technologies often means that designing tests for those technologies amounts to shooting at a moving target. Standards are constantly evolving, and sometimes competition between standards looks like the modern version of Beta vs. VHS. For example, fourth generation (4G) telecommunication will come in two distinct flavors — LTE-advanced and WiMax, each of which has its supporters for different applications.
